The venue
The Emperor Ballroom at the Rover (Cowley) Sports & Social Club, Romanway, Cowley, Oxford, is a spacious ballroom with a sprung dance floor. The ballroom area is wonderfully lit by an Art Deco-style ceiling feature.
There is a large lounge area with table and chairs seating, most with a good view of the dance floor. Additionally there is floor-side seating along two sides, comprising comfortable booths and tables and chairs.
There is a full bar to the rear of the lounge area. While the Silver Slipper Club does not offer meals at most of their dances, the usual bar snacks such as crisps and nuts are available to purchase.
Accessibility to the lounge and Emperor Ballroom is very good externally, with a choice of a long ramp to the front of the building, and a medium flight of stairs to the side. Inside there are three steps from the lounge area down to the ballroom floor or a ramp with handrail.
Toilet facilities for women, men and the disabled, are situated off the short corridor leading from the entrance lobby to the lounge and ballroom.
